From the keg...
FRESH Hopwired IPA
A fresh (wet hopped) version of our flagship IPA, HopWired. Brewed to the same recipe but with fresh hop cones straight from the vine. Needless to say this is a very limited release.
Semi Conductor Session IPA
IPAs are great but sometimes you just don't want the amount of alcohol that comes with most of the good ones. In this spirit we brewed Semiconductor. an IPA designed to be drunk by the gallon, if you are that thirsty.
8 Wired Tropidelic
At an ABV of 5% Soren of 8 Wired has said it is “not made to be a small HopWired”...but then he concedes “it kind of is if you look at the recipe.” He explains both beers “use the same hops but not the same proportions. Tropidelic leans towards big Motueka and Riwaka hops. The result is a nice drinking New Zealand pale ale (where he's) tried to keep bitterness lower and it is much lighter in colour and palate sweetness."
The Malthouse Blog
"This is an excellent example of a bitter IPA that has all the right boxes ticked, some in heavier pen than others It is aromatic, both tropical and sweet, looks great, and is bitter with a real punch and drier than a desert valley at noon, but it also has a nice malt sweet bit slightly."
And then from the bottle...
The Big Smoke - a Porter
Now what is this? A smoked beer?? It really isn't as crazy as it sounds. 250 years ago virtually all beers were smoked (it's true, Google it!), but with the dawning of the industrial revolution most of the smoke lifted. However, in the German town of Bamberg the flame has quite literally been kept alive and to this day the town’s brewers produce world renowned beers brewed with their own special rauchmalz (beechwood smoked malt).
8 Wired have taken their best porter recipe and added a good measure of that same Bamberg Rauchmalz. The smoke mingles beautifully with the rich, dark roasted chocolate flavours of the porter without being overpowering. Although it pairs extremely well with smoked seafood, barbeques, strong cheeses and hearty stews, its food friendliness isn’t limited to savouries; chocolate and caramel based deserts are great companions too! Trust these great brewers; it really isn't as crazy as it sounds.
Bone dry and ultra hoppy Double IPA. Brewed with 80% more hops than 8 Wired's already extremely hoppy HopWired IPA. Expect caramel!
"It’s a pale golden beer, hazy and with a small, white head. Lemony, piney nose with a faint funky hint. Grapes and some grass. There’s more emphasis on the grapes in the flavor, still there’s plenty of room for the lemon and pine cones. And some funk and grass, not to forget the bitterness, which is at a moderate level. It’s dry, almost tart on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Medium body. Long lemony, piney and lightly bitter finish. Not much maltyness going on here, but that doesn’t matter, it’s a fine beer anyway."
