Free Wine Tastings this week are...

The Holly Pinot Gris from Matahiwi Vineyards, the Pinot Gris no big and buttery Chardonnay lover should miss out on!

This is Pinot Gris with a distinct difference. Made in classic Alsace style it's a massive wine that lovers of big classic chardonnays will likely fall instantly in love with. Come in, try it, see why! Amazing value at just $14.99!

Wild Rock Gravel Pit Red, from Craggy Range

This excellent Merlot Malbec blend is incredibly affordable, a tiny investment sets you up with a smooth and polished Bordeaux-style drop that is an absolute delight. Freshly bold but not too much. It's garnered 2 Gold Medals, it's the entry level brand of the widely praised Craggy Range Winery and it's just $16.99.

Summerhouse Sauvignon Blanc

There's nothing like a Savvy to remind you Summer is coming...well, enough said there. Straight from the 2015 harvest, one of if not the best ever vintages for Sauvignoin Blanc, this superb wine from the award winners at Rapaura Springs has grabbed a 5 Star Best Buy from Cuisine and a 5 star from Winestate. It's all tropics and citrics, a really lovely example of the best of Marlborough. $18.99 a bottle.

WOW - SOHO Valentina Syrah

You lucky devils. We've got a bottle of this highly awarded and critiqued Waiheke Island Syrah for you. This promises a real wow factor on the tasting table this week. First, let's start by saying it's $33.90 on Waiheke at the Wine Centre. Here in Manly we've got it down to just $29.99, 10% less after the horrendous costs of shipping off the island! The Wine Centre speak of it in reverential tones - "synonymous with opulence, extravagance & femininity. Warm berry fruit & black plums worthy of a decadent Roman Emperor. This voluptuous silhouette offers hints of spice that are bound by toasty oak. A seamless structured palate with a bodice that is receptive & candid. SOHO Rosso... inspired by Valentino, created for lovers of perfection." Hilarious, but evocative none the less. Come on in and taste his double Gold 5 star rated wine and see for yourself. Pop one or more on the shelf for this Winter's treat, or assess for yourself and order a case for the cellar. It's strength will offer real cellaring potential.
